Atkins

By Stephanie Boyle

I tried the Atkins diet when it was at the height of its popularity a few years back. In recent years I have noticed a decrease in popularity of this program. I wonder if it's because the amount of people who planned to stay on it but maybe realized along the way it would be difficult to commit to the rest of their lives. I myself wanted to go ahead and try it, I didn't see how it was good for you, but went ahead anyways.

I tried the program and I ate the Atkins bars, and all of the Atkins products and truly I did lose weight but the same type of thing happened. As soon as I stopped eating the bars and all of the processed foods from the company, I gained all of the weight back. I think it was the same problem, I couldn't follow that regime for the rest of my life to keep the weight off. There is additional information on Atkins in my other post, which you can read and draw your own conclusions about the program.

I never got past the first phase because after I had lost about 18 pounds, my pharmacist made me aware it probably wasn't the best plan for me where I had heart problems in the past. I have heard great results from this program, but also a lot of disappointed people who expected those same great results.

Xantrex 3

By Stephanie Boyle

Diet pills is a major industry now, everyone is trying to lose weight and everyone is looking for the easy way to do it. So I decided on taking a chance and trying them. I went to a Pharmacy and looked at the section of diet pills they had, it was crazy I never realized how many diet pills were out there now. It must have had a section of about 6 feet long. I left feeling discouraged as I did not know what to choose.

Months later I was out and saw a friend from school, she looked great. I found out she had a baby and had gained 30 plus pounds during her pregnancy and her too had been looking for the quick way to lose weight. She tried Xantrex 3 after her pregnancy and lost all her baby weight plus got back to a weight she hasn't been since her High School days. So that was enough to get me interested in trying these pills. I went back to the Pharmacy but this time I knew what I was looking for.

I read all the claims for the product online and the little bit of information that came with the bottle. You are supposed to take 2 pills a half hour before every meal, claim was that if you continued to eat the same you would still lose weight by taking these as they would boost your metabolism and give you extra energy. I tried that and wow the energy it gave me was amazing but it gave me the shakes so bad, sitting at a computer all day and working was very uncomfortable. Other side effects were paranoia, slight feelings of depression, enough to affect my life. Finally I decided to cut down to 1 pill a half hour before every meal, that did not change how I felt so I finally needed to stop taking them. I did lose about 5 pounds in the couple weeks I took them, however the side effects were affecting me too much I knew there was no way I could have continued using them.

After I stopped taking them I went on forums about the product and almost every person I spoke to felt the side effects to some degree. They were on these sites to spread the word about what had happened to them. Everyone on those sites gave me the same information, they achieved weight loss results in the short time they took the pills but is it really worth the loss of completely affecting your life?

Weight Watchers

By Stephanie Boyle

I've tried Weight Watchers on various occassions over the past few years. On Weight Watchers, I tried the points based system which is fairly easy to follow as everything has nutritional value on it now. Depending on your weight you are allowed more or less food. I was allowed a reasonable amount if I was eating healthy foods however on the days you splurge on a little bit of a fattier food, your food could be very limited. I did lose some weight however with the amount of weight I needed to lose; it was too slow for me. They say you generally lose about a pound per week. That wasn’t really enough to keep me motivated as you don’t really notice a pound in your clothes. Also the weekly meetings weren’t convenient with my work schedule, so I was able to go to very few meetings which I eventually stopped going completely. With all the research I've been doing on weight loss and with some of the new programs coming out, I've come to realize why it didn't always work for me. I was staying under the amount of points, but I was only eating about 2 times per day. While I was eating so few times throughout the run of the day, my body was continuously going in and out of starvation mode. I was eating fattier foods and the fat was being stored because my body was in starvation mode lowering my metabolism.

Weight Loss

By Stephanie Boyle

Have you ever tried to lose a few pounds for a special occasion or to get back into those jeans? Weight loss is a huge industry these days. I know myself I have spent over a thousand dollars on attempts at weight loss. I like millions of others in this world have struggled with my weight all my life. I have tried diet after diet and still nothing had seemed to work for me. So here I am trying a new one and am bringing you along with me on the journey on each weight loss attempt and only stop once I find one that works for me. I know I am a sceptic when it comes to the testimonials when people say they have lost such an amount of weight on this particular diet. So let’s get started:

In the past I have tried LA Weight Loss, Weight Watchers, Cabbage Soup diet, Xantrex 3 and even the Atkins diet for me. Results were always too slow and never kept me interested long enough to follow through to lose all the weight I needed to. So here is some of my reviews and a bit of information on the programs that I’ve tried.
